A.C. GENERATOR
Prime Mover : Single/Double cylinder, Air/Water cooled,
vertical, four stroke, constant speed, stationary, compression
ignition, handle/push button start diesel engines form the
driving power for the A. C. Generators.
A.C. Generators : A. C. Generators are self-excited and self
regulated in screen protected drip-proof enclosure. These A.
C. Generators are available in single phase and three phase at
1500 R.P.M. These A.C. Generators are manufactured as per
Indian Standard Specifications 13364 (part 1) under strict
quality control capable of sustaining 10% over load for one
hour in any twelve hours normal running.
Armature : The armature cores are of high quality Silicon
steel stampings to ensure minimum energy losses. The armature
core is rigidly keyed to a sturdy shaft and clamped with heavy
end-ring.
Body & Ventilation : The stator frame consists of thick sheet
steel which is rounded and machined for its alignment with
endshields. The endshield are of cast iron with easy
ventilation windows on both sides. A balanced and efficient
aluminum fan is fitted with the armature spindle which gives
uniform cooling and long life to the windings. The whole body
is based on steel plates to ensure stability.
Winding & Insulation : Both D.C. and A.C. windings are of
super synthetic enameled copper wire of high conductivity.
High grade insulating materials are used in winding the field
coils and armature which are then varnished and thoroughly
dried. Winding is of class ``A'' insulation. Voltage
regulation is within ± 5 %.
Slip-ring assembly : The slip-rings are made of specially
designed gun metal alloy of homogeneous texture set in phenolic resinous power to facilitate spark-free and no energy
loss conduction. Brush holders are fitted with insulated
bolts. Positive collection of current is ensured by copper
bush flexible and adequate connecting leads.
Field : The field consists of four pole shoes built of high
quality steel stampings which are accurately spaced and
mounted in the steel body.
Current Wave : Generator out-put current wave form remains
substantially Sino-Soidal under all conditions and frequency
variation is within ± 5%.
Bearings : Heavy duty ball-bearings of high quality are fitted
to support the armature spindle. The bearings are lubricated
with high melting point grease which helps the A.C. Generators
in smooth and noiseless running. Outer bearings are covered
type to prevent dust.
Additional fixtures : A separate control panel fitted with
voltmeter, ammeter/s, switch/es, blinker/s and fuse-cut-out/s
can be supplied on demand at extra cost.
